Tyson Fury suffered a horrible cut eye during his heavyweight showdown with Otto Wallin - leaving him covered in blood and staring a shock defeat in the face.
However the British star was able to bounce back to secure a victory via an unanimous decision to maintain his unbeaten record.
The Gypsy King was stunned in the third round when his relatively unknown Swedish opponent caught him with a powerful punch.
Fury was left with a huge, deep cash above his right eye that ultimately caused the favourite a whole host of problems in Las Vegas.
For the majority of the bout, blood was streaming down Fury's face as he constantly attempted to keep the blood out of his eye.
Fans were left stunned, with one writing on Twitter : "Somebody better tell Fury that he was cut by a punch. He’s touching the cut and bringing attention to it like a guy who thinks otherwise!"
And some fans were fuming with Wallin, who constantly targeted the eye as he looked to cause a shock victory in the States on Saturday night.
At one stage in the sixth round, the Swede attempted to rake his glove down the cut as the referee attempted to break the pair up.
One wrote: "SUPER cheap move by Wallin to rake the cut on Fury's eye. Bad form"
Another said: "Check that, cut is bleeding profusely now above Fury's eye. Wallin tried to thumb the cut toward end of the 6th round. WOW!"
Fury started off brightly but struggled to land anything meaningful as Wallin looked to get inside.
But the entire complexion of the fight was changed in round three as Fury was caught and suffered a nasty cut above his right eye.
Blood quickly started to pour down Fury’s face, clearly impeding his vision.
The referee ruled the damage was done by a punch rather than a headbutt, and by the sixth round the doctor was involved to look at the damage.
Fury, clearly frustrated as Wallin looked to grasp his opportunity and rough him up, complained about use of the head and he also appeared to rake his eye to target the cut after being asked to break.
The doctors’ involvement and the cut forced Fury to try and up the pace, yet Wallin was happy to exchange and get into a scrap, soaking up what Fury could land in the seventh.
With Fury’s corner working overtime to control the damage, and urging their man to “stay calm”, Fury was able to get through the difficulty and continue to outbox the gutsy Swede.
