Boxing Day Sales: Shoppers expected to spend nearly £4 billion online and on the high street

30 million shoppers are expected to hit the Boxing Day sales today, with Britain expected to spend £3.74 billion on cut priced goods.

Many businesses started slashing prices online at midnight, while other shoppers hit the high street from as early as 2am in order to try and snag a bargain.

The Centre for Retail Research suggested 22 million shoppers will spend 6% more in the sales than last year, according to the BBC.

Online shoppers are likely to spend 22% more than last year, taking the figure from 2014’s £699 million to a new high of £856 million, according to Experian.

With Boxing Day falling on a Saturday a lot of shops that are previously closed on the 26th are now open this year. Department store, Fenwick, is opening on Boxing Day for the first time in its 124-year history.

For those of you not wanting to venture out onto the high street, we have listed the best homeware and electronic sales online, as well as opening times of all major supermarkets.
