Boxing champ and Strictly star Nicola Adams 'dreams of playing Marvel superhero'

Boxing champion turned Strictly Come Dancing star Nicola Adams dreams of playing a Marvel superhero in a Hollywood movie.

That's according to her girlfriend and fellow Loiner Ella Baig.

Adams, representing Great Britain, rocketed to fame in 2012 when she became the first female boxer to win an Olympic gold medal in 2012.

The former flyweight won a second Olympic gold at Rio 2016 before retiring undefeated from the boxing in 2019.

Adams again made history when she became one half of BBC Strictly's first same-sex dance couple with professional dancer Katya Jones.

She's currently training for 12 hours a day with Katya -but Adams is thinking of branching out into acting, Baig told The Mirror.

She said: "I know Nicki wants to get into acting. She wants to be a superhero in a Marvel movie. That’s her dream."

"We want to see the world together and have lots of experiences."

Nicola has described herself as bisexual and once said she fancied Brad Pitt.

But Baig has her doubts. She said: "Nicki is a lesbian so I don’t think even Brad would do it for her.

"The only person I know she has a crush on is J-Lo. But she can dance away because I’ve got a few years on her. I was all for Nicki dancing with a woman on Strictly.

"I don’t get jealous. I’m quite confident and I hate it when women are pitted against each other."

At the moment Nicola is pitted against tough competitors in the BBC1 dance contest, including TV and radio star Clara Amfo, singer Max George and Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing.

Baig, 22, says she and Nicola, 37, are best pals who 'argue all the time'.

She said: "When you both have strong personalities you are bound to.

"But as long as you resolve it, it’s not an issue. We mainly argue about who is taking the dog out for a wee.

"There are 15 years between us and Nicki has a good whinge now and again, but she’s a very outgoing and fun person so I don’t think the age gap matters."

Baig didn’t click with anybody until she met Nicola at an R&B club in Leeds in 2018.

She said: "I was dating very feminine girls and wondered why there was never a spark.

"Then Nicola approached me very confidently at this club and it was something like love at first sight.

"She is the first masculine woman I have dated and she is outspoken, confident, independent and hard.

"She likes to play the role of the protector, so our personalities fit well together."

Baig added: “I am so proud of Nicki for doing Strictly.

"She loves to dance.

"She doesn’t go into anything without the mindset that she can win it.

"And I will be cheering her on."
