Boxer Victor Ortiz kicked man in head at Kenny Chesney concert, police say

July 29--Former boxing champion Victor Ortiz and his brother were arrested over the weekend after allegedly attacking a man during a dispute at country singer Kenny Chesney's concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, police said.

The siblings were taken into custody Saturday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and later released on $30,000 bail each, said Pasadena police Lt. Tracey Ibarra.

Witnesses told police that at about 7 p.m. the former WBC welterweight champion and his brother Cuahthemoc Ortiz got into an argument with another concertgoer that quickly turned physical, she said.

Cuahthemoc Ortiz punched the 24-year-old man, who fell to the ground, Ibarra said. Then Victor Ortiz kicked the man in the head, she said.

The siblings started walking away but were stopped by police before they left the venue.

The man was taken to an area hospital and was treated for his injuries, she said.

Charges against the siblings will depend on the severity of the man's injuries, Ibarra said. The pair are due to appear in court in August.

Police are still investigating the alleged assault, and it was unclear what the argument was over, Ibarra said.

Thousands filled the Rose Bowl that night to watch Chesney and country singer Jason Aldean. The singers headlined the venue's first county music show.
