Boxer Marvelous Marvin Hagler dies at 66, wife says

Marvin Hagler died on Saturday at 66 years old, according to a statement from his wife.

“Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire,” Kay Hagler wrote on the legendary boxer’s official Facebook page.

Hagler dominated the middleweight division for much of the 1980s, first grabbing the world title in 1980 and holding it until the last fight of his career, a controversial loss to Sugar Ray Leonard in 1987. Hagler is widely considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers ever, beating fighters like Tommy Hearns and Roberto Duran in his domination of the middleweight division.

A New Jersey native, Hagler moved to Italy after his boxing career and became an actor there.
