Boxer Chris Eubank's son Sebastian died from 'massive heart attack' as wife shares pain

Sebastian Eubank - son of boxing icon Chris - died after suffering a heart attack whilst in the sea in Dubai, according to his wife.

The boxer and MMA fighter was tragically found dead on a beach near his home in the UAE on Friday - just days before his 30th birthday.

Grieving widow Salma Abdelati said on Tuesday that Sebastian, originally from Brighton, had died from a "massive heart attack".

She said a full post-mortem revealed her husband could not have been saved, and he was most likely living with a pre-existing heart condition he and his family were unaware of.

She continued: "While still very painful it is of some comfort that Sebastian died after having one of his favourite meals with one of his closest friends whilst doing his favorite thing at his favourite place in Dubai where he often went to swim.

"He was standing in the water close to shore watching the sunset at Cove Beach in Dubai.

"I am grateful that he was able to spend a few short and happy weeks with his son before his death."

She also thanked the Dubai coroner and police for a swift investigation.

The couple had welcomed son Raheem only a month ago.

Boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr, 54, had earlier hailed his son as a "deep thinker" who was "loved and respected by all who knew him".

He said: "Never did I ever imagine I would write these words or experience the feeling I now have at the loss of my son.

"My family and I are devastated to hear of the death of Sebastian just days before what would have been his 30th birthday."

Chris Eubank Jr, 31, also posted a tribute on Twitter earlier this week saying his brother's tragic death was a reminder not to take loved ones' lives for granted.

"See them, speak to them, check up on them as much as you possibly can because you just never know if that one time will be the last time", he wrote, adding: "Love you bro."

Sebastian - known as the 'Alka Lion' - took after his father and had three professional fights following a period as a successful amateur.

Several high profile figures in the boxing world paid tribute to Sebastian after his death, including former world champion Joe Calzaghe, 49.

He said: "Really saddened to hear the news of the passing of Seb Eubank. Thoughts and prayers to Chris and family."

Promoter Eddie Hearn added: "So saddened by the news of the passing of Seb Eubank. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends."

Sebastian had posted in April about enjoying being back fighting in front of crowds.
