Bowling Green punt nets two yards without a return

Illinois had to punt on fourth-and-goal on Saturday against Minnesota. Bowling Green didn’t quite manage the same kicking trick but it came close.

In Tuesday’s MACtion, Bowling Green’s Matt Naranjo punted and the ball traveled sideways and backward after it landed The ESPN announcer said it defied the laws of physics.

What they didn’t note was that after a five-yard penalty for having an illegal formation — five men in the backfield — the punt accounted for two yards.

The play started at the Bowling Green 43 and when Kent State took its snap after the punt, the ball was situated at the Bowling Green 45.
