Bowlers dominate as Delhi Capitals restrict Gujarat Giants to 126/9 in WPL

NEW DELHI: Table-toppers Delhi Capitals' bowlers delivered a disciplined performance to restrict Gujarat Giants to a modest total of 126 for nine in the Women's Premier League (WPL) match on Wednesday.

Bharati Fulmali's 42 and Kathryn Bryce's unbeaten 28 were crucial contributions, preventing the Giants from finishing with an even lower total.

Marizanne Kapp, the South African veteran, led the bowling attack with figures of 2/17 in four overs, making a significant impact during the powerplay. Shikha Pandey and Minnu Mani also chipped in with two wickets each.

Gujarat Giants' decision to bat first backfired as they found themselves in trouble at 12/2 in the fourth over, losing key wickets, including skipper Beth Mooney for a duck in the match's very first over.

Despite the early setbacks, Bharati Fulmali and Kathryn Bryce's partnership of 68 runs helped the Giants reach a total of 126, giving their bowlers a target to defend.
