Southampton earned a 2-0 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday to leave the Cherries on the brink of relegation from the Premier League.
A back-and-forth first half saw the hosts waste a number of decent chances before Danny Ings opened the scoring close to half-time by bending a shot past Aaron Ramsdale.
The Saints striker then missed from the spot in the second half as his casual effort was easily held by the Bournemouth goalkeeper.
The Cherries seemed to have grabbed a dramatic late equaliser in added time when Sam Surridge came off the bench to drill a shot home after a long throw, but it was ruled out for offside.
Moments later, Che Adams sealed the win for Southampton with the last kick of the game.
