Bournemouth missing key players for Newcastle United trip - with ex-Magpie also ruled out

Newcastle United will play host to Bournemouth this weekend at St James' Park with the Eddie Howe's side looking pretty fresh as they push for a European place.

The visitors' 1-0 victory over Manchester United last weekend was their third consecutive clean sheet, as they have started to put together some form after a difficult start to the season.

The Cherries go into the game without winger Junior Stanislas and left-back Charlie Daniels. who are both recovering from knee surgeries.

Attacking midfielder David Brooks is also recovering from surgery but on his ankle after an injury sustained in July.

Former Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling will miss a return to his former club through a hip injury. The 33-year-old has been out of the squad since the summer, and has no return date as of yet.

Gosling left the Magpies for Bournemouth in 2014 on a free transfer, so far scoring 17 goals for the south coast outfit.

Newcastle will monitor Fabian Schar and Matt Ritchie in training this week, while Florian Lejeune has played twice for the Magpies' Under-23s in recent weeks. Sean Longstaff will sit the game out in the second of his three-match ban.
