Bournemouth facing major injury problems ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Nottingham Forest aren’t the only ones having to contend with injuries early on in the Championship season - their opponents on Saturday are in the same boat.

Bournemouth had a considerable total of eight first-team players missing for their opening league game against West Bromwich Albion, which they drew 2-2.

And there is no guarantee any of them will be back for the clash with the Reds at the City Ground, with boss Scott Parker forced to name an inexperienced bench last weekend.

The Cherries are without Junior Stanislas and Steve Cook, who are returning from long-term injury issues, while Arnaut Danjuma has just returned to training with the team after a foot problem.

Jefferson Lerma is also unavailable as he continues to serve a six-match ban.

"Arnie Danjuma is back training with the group," the manager told the club website. "He's missed a lot so will need some work to get up to speed and fitness-wise.

“It's good that he's back with the group and is back training with us - that's a real positive.

"With Steve Cook, it's the same. He's back with the group, albeit he's modified in his training. He's still not available to play.

"With Junior Stanislas, it was a pleasing result on his scan, it wasn't as bad as we first thought and he's already on the grass running again. This weekend probably comes a little bit quick but I'd like to think the coming games next week will see Junior back in then.

"Leif Davis is training, again he's on his own modified schedule and is in the Danjuma category where he's not done a lot of work in pre-season so we'll need to judge where he is.

"Ben Pearson is back with the group as well, again he's not done a lot of work over the last couple of weeks so we'll have to judge that nearer the weekend with where we are with him."

Parker has said he will make a late call on the readiness of full-back Jack Stacey, after he

was forced off early in the first half of the Carabao Cup tie against MK Dons last month after feeling his quad.

"We’ll have to make a call on Jack probably to see exactly his availability and whether he’s ready for the weekend. But at this present moment in time, it’s looking positive," he said.

Meanwhile, Lewis Cook remains a long-term absentee for Bournemouth due to a knee injury.

Forest will be without centre-back Loic Mbe Soh on Saturday, after he came off in the first half against Coventry City with a groin problem.

Joe Worrall (calf) has also been ruled out, while left-back Gaetan Bong is suspended.

Lewis Grabban is back in training after self-isolating, but it remains to be seen if he starts for Chris Hughton’s side.
