Bournemouth boss Scott Parker snaps up Brentford Wembley hero on a free transfer

Emiliano Marcondes, the midfielder who scored in Brentford's Championship play-off final victory, has signed for Bournemouth.

The Dane became a free agent despite playing a huge role in the Bees' Wembley success at the end of May.

He has now agreed a three-year deal with the Cherries and becomes Scott Parker's first signing since he took up the post after leaving Fulham.

Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: "To be able to sign a player of Emiliano’s quality on a free transfer is a huge coup for the club.

"Unsurprisingly, we were in competition with a number of other clubs so I’m delighted that he has chosen us for the next stage of his career. Emiliano is proven at this level, knows what it takes to win and has experience of the biggest games and securing promotion.

"He will be an excellent addition to our squad and add real competition in an important area of the pitch."

Marcondes, 26, will join up with his new colleagues ahead of their first game of the 2021-22 campaign when they host West Bromwich Albion.

The fixture was brought forward to Friday, August 6 for live TV coverage and will act as the curtain-raiser for the new EFL campaign.

Before that Parker will put his new players through their paces during a training camp in Marbella, despite Spain being on the UK Government's travel amber list.
