Bournemouth and Wales star David Brooks out for 'at least' another three months as Ryan Giggs sweats on his fitness for Euros

Ryan Giggs will be sweating on the Euro 2020 fitness of Wales Player of the Year David Brooks after the midfield ace had to undergo more surgery on his troublesome ankle.

Brooks, 22, flew to Qatar for the surgery which was done at a private hospital which footballers attend for expert treatment.

Bournemouth have ruled Brooks out of Premier League action for at least another three months, according to reports. He has yet to play a single minute this season.

However, while the Cherries hope Brooks will be able to return to action at some point in March, boss Eddie Howe is said to be no more than cautiously optimistic.

Giggs does not have to name his Euro squad until May, giving Brooks plenty of time to prove his fitness if Bournemouth's initial diagnosis is correct.

But the Wales manager will want to see the star midfielder has fully recovered from the problem, with game time under his belt, before picking him for the tournament.

Brooks has been sidelined since damaging ankle ligaments in a pre-season friendly at Brentford and the problem has not gone away.

He had surgery in the summer and was only expected to be out for 12 weeks, but has been forced to go under the knife again.
