Mars Wrigley are giving ‘Bounty boycotters’ the chance to swap the controversial chocolate in London next week.
Bounty bashers will be able to exchange their unwanted Celebration-sized Bounty’s in return for a Malteser Teaser, one of the nation’s favourites, as the scheme kicks off in London at Co-Op New Eltham store on the 17 of January.
The scheme was founded following research that revealed that Bounty is the most unloved in a box of Celebrations with over half (52%) Brits admitting that the coconut choc is the last to be chosen in their box of celebrations.
In contrast, Malteser Teasers came top as 63% of Brits saying that they would pick the Malteser Teaser first.
The scheme was launched in November with a heart-warming seasonal love story that saw The Lonely Bounty finding love with fellow Christmas outsider the Brussels Sprout in a Celebrations Christmas ad.
Set to a poignant seasonal soundtrack, the spot saw Bounty finally find his true love whilst poking fun at holiday advertising conventions - parodying festive TV spots and iconic Christmas films, with nods to John Lewis, Love Actually and Bridget Jones's Diary.
The ad caused a storm on social media with other brands and the public expressing their support for the Lonely Bounty and others shaming the unloved chocolate.
Following London, the return scheme will move on to Manchester where Mancunians can trade in at the Barlow Moor Road branch of the Co-op on the 18 and finally to Glasgow at the Scotmid Bishopbriggs store on the 19 of January.
