Bouncy castle firm offers pint-starved Scots inflatable pub for hire in their garden

A Scots bouncy castle firm is hoping to cater for people missing a night out on the town by offering a new inflatable pub service.

The new offering will see the 6x4 metres temporary pub delivered to gardens and homes around the central belt - though the unique service won't be available until next month.

Bought just before the country went into lockdown, Robert Drummond, owner of Ally Bally's Bouncy Castles in Renfrew, explained that they will wait until the country enters 'phase two' before offering the pub to customers.

He said: "We don’t want to encourage large groups of people meeting at the moment. So hopefully from July we will be allowed a little more freedom to see more people."

Speaking about the reasoning behind it, Robert explained that though they are known for children's entertainment in castles and assault courses, his company also recently branched out by buying Scotland’s first disco dome bouncy castle and were looking for a way to help adults missing the joys of the pub - in as safe a way as possible.

He said: "It was an idea we had been planning to get for a few years as it’s something completely different from the usual.

"We had Scotland’s first disco dome bouncy castle which had a great response, so this is something catered for adults but still equally as fun.

"Since we posted the first pictures of it on our page the response has been phenomenal. It’s something that people can enjoy from the comfort of their own garden."

The business owner added that they will begin renting the pub out in July when they are allowed to do so and hires will start at around £100 for the pub, with optional extras including sound, lights and microphones also on offer.

Robert added that safety is a key issue for them with social distancing rules applied throughout the service and all equipment cleaned before and after rental.
