A bouncer needed surgery after allegedly being struck on the head in a Bristol pub.
Police are appealing for information about the incident which took place in The Fleece & Firkin and outside on St Thomas Street at around 11.15pm on August 25.
The 55-year-old doorman "severely injured" his bicep, according to police, meaning an operation was required.
Explaining how the injury came to be inflicted, a police spokesman said it appears a disorder arose inside the pub and the bouncer went to investigate.
The bouncer asked a man to follow him outside to speak about the disorder, with the pair being followed by another man.
The police spokesman said the bouncer felt a blow to his head which knocked him through the door and into the wall outside - and when the second man landed on his arm, he sustained the bicep injury.
The spokesman added: "This is being considered as a potential GBH [grievous bodily harm) and officers are continuing with their enquiries including seeking witnesses and analysing any available CCTV."
