KOLKATA: Just like the previous season, ATK Mohun Bagan began their ISL campaign with a win against Kerala Blasters on Friday but Hugo Boumous stood out for his dream debut for the new team.
The French midfielder, who scored a brace in the 4-2 victory, is now revelling in the partnership with Roy Krishna.
"I am really enjoying the game with Roy Krishna. Roy won the Golden Ball last year. The more understanding between us increases, the more the club will benefit. He can understand my passes. So, it helps me," Boumous said after the match.
ATK Bagan's next match is the Kolkata derby and Boumous has already turned his focus to the high-voltage game against SC East Bengal.
"I have heard a lot about the Kolkata Derby. There will be no spectators on the field, that's what pains me. Despite winning against Kerala, not everything was perfect for us. The opponent has scored two goals. The mistakes must be rectified in the derby. We need to improve further. We have to maintain the continuity of winning in the derby," he said.
While Boumous, who was instrumental in Mumbai City FC's march to the ISL-7 title, ran away with the man-of-the-match match, another newcomer Liston Colaco drew praise for his debut in ATK Bagan's colour, scoring a spectacular goal.
"It feels good to score a goal in my first match for ATK Mohun Bagan. I'm enjoying everyone's wishes. I want to score in every match. I want to dedicate this goal to ATK Mohun Bagan supporters," Liston said.
Boumous is also all praise for his teammate. "Liston's goal is remarkable. Everyone will understand how talented he is by seeing his goals," Boumous said.
