Boulders put on live railway lines in path of oncoming trains in Leeds

An investigation has been launched after trespassers placed boulders on railway lines in Leeds.

Just before 7pm on Tuesday (29 June) the boulders were placed on the lines near Redcote Lane, Kirkstall.

British Transport Police have also said the group of people were spotted trespassing at the same location on Saturday 3 July.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to get in contact.

A statement from the officers said: “Officers investigating railway obstruction and trespass incidents are today appealing for witnesses.

“At just before 7pm on Tuesday 29 June, boulders were placed on the railway lines near Redcote Lane in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

“It is also reported that a group of people were spotted trespassing at the same location on Saturday 3 July.

“Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 499 of 29/06/21.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
