A fight involving several people outside Boujis nightclub in London has lead to the nightclub’s licence being suspended.
A large-scale fight took place in the early hours of Sunday 25 October outside the Chelsea venue. Police were called and seven people were arrested at the scene, according to the Metropolitan police.
During the incident an 18-year-old man had his head thrown into a car — leaving a dent in its side. The individual refused medical attention and only gave officers a brief statement.
Six men and one woman between the ages of 18 and 21 were arrested and issued fixed penalty notices under the Public Order Act.
A hearing reviewed evidence of a number of previous violent incidents as well as Sunday’s, including a woman reporting being assaulted by a man on the dancefloor in June 2015. The decision was taken to suspend the venue’s licence until November 9.
Following the suspension, the club is now only permitted to admit those 21 and over. The opening hours of the club have also been reduced, with the venue now closing at 02:00 instead of 03:00.
Kensington and Chelsea Inspector Eddie Armstrong said: “The safety of the public is our priority. Police licensing officers are pro-active in working with licensed premises to help reduce crime and disorder. Where necessary we will take enforcement action.
“In this case, we considered that an application for a summary licence review and the subsequent suspension of the premises licence was appropriate and necessary.”
