Bottles ‘N’ Jars: Bert Blaize opens new deli and wine shop in Highgate

A classic car showroom that regularly sells vintage motors for hundreds of thousands of pounds has teamed up with a leading drinks writer to open a new wine shop and deli in Highgate.

Hexagon Classics has partnered with Which Wine When co-author Bert Blaize to launch the two story space, offering wine, coffee and deli bites. Named Bottles ‘N’ Jars, it sits next to the longstanding showroom, which boasts vintage Ferraris, Aston Martins and  Lamborghinis among its collection.

Beside the booze – which counts various vermouths, grappas and a choice of spirits alongside the wine – are deli bites including jars of salted caramel figs, squid ink fideos, and dried pasta. If successful, it’s expected that the food offering will be extended, and it’s hinted a new arts and music space is to follow.

Blaize said of the launch: “Opening a bottle shop has long been an ambition of mine which was amplified following the success of the book. I’m really looking forward to chatting people though their choices, getting to know our locals and creating a fun and interactive space for wine lovers.”

Blaize, who formerly worked as a sommelier at both The Clove Club and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, will be on hand in the shop to offer buyers advice and suggest pairings.

Bottles ‘N’ Jars is open now, at 82-92 Great North Road,  N2 0NL. For more information, bottlesnjars.co.uk
