Bottles and punches thrown in mass brawl outside Wetherspoons pub

Bottles and punches were thrown when a mass brawl broke out outside a Wetherspoon's pub. Police confirmed three men were detained following the incident on Saturday which involved a large group of men.

Fighting started outside the popular pub on Walton Road in Liverpool just after 3pm. The Liverpool Echo reported how the men could be seen throwing punches at each other.

Footage captured at the scene has been shared online. It shows the glass bottles being hurled as a woman's voice shouts "get out, get out."

Merseyside Police told The Echo officers were called to an altercation at the Thomas Frost pub on Walton Road just after 3pm on Saturday. They said there have been no reports of any injuries.

However they said three men aged 22, 33 and 55, had been arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place. The film footage show a man lying on the ground in front of moving traffic.

It shows other men kicking and punching him. Empty beer bottles, cans and plastic cups litter the pavement outside the pub where the fight broke out.

Merseyside Police said in a statement: "Three men have been arrested following a disturbance in Walton this afternoon, Saturday 21 January. Just after 3pm, officers were called to an altercation at the Thomas Frost pub on County Road. No injuries were reported.

"Three men, aged 22, 33 and 55, were arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place."
