'Bottled water' to be handed out as pipe burst leaves dozens with no supply

A road in Maghull has seen a flash flood as a water main burst during road resurfacing.

Lynne Warham, who lives next to where the main was burst on Park Lane, said the electricity has been going off and on all day whilst her partner works from home.

The 51-year-old also said she has been told her home's water supply won't be resumed due to the burst being so close to her house.

She told the ECHO : "I have my partner working at home which isn't ideal for her. It has kind of caused a little bit of interruption but it hasn't been off for a long period of time. Just going off then comes back on a minute of two later and it has done that periodically a few times whilst the issue has been ongoing outside."

The burst happened as a digger working in the road hit a main. Flooding occurred between Parkbourn Drive and the railway bridge that goes across Park Lane.

Lynne and her partner, Kim, have been left with water '"creeping up the driveway" whilst United Utilities look to fix the issue.

She said: "We're without water for the foreseeable until that gets sorted out. A man from United Utilities did say he will look to get some bottled water over. For the area around us they said they'll be able to get some tankers in to pump water into the mains but because we're so close it won't get to us. They're looking at which sections of the street are affected and they said they're going to get some bottled water over to us."

Lynn posted about the disruption urging people to avoid the area at all costs. She said: "Every time a vehicle passes it creates a surge which pushes the water further up our drives and closer to the house.

A spokesperson for United Utilities said: “We can confirm that a third party working in the area has damaged our water main on Park Lane in Maghull. Our engineers are currently on site carrying out the repair and we hope to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
