Bottled still and sparkling water from many Irish supermarkets recalled over high arsenic levels

Bottled water from many of the country's biggest supermarkets and shops has been recalled over safety fears.

Branded water from Aldi, Dunnes, Spar, Lidl, Mace and even more stores is being recalled due to high arsenic levels.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said on its website: "Arsenic was detected above the legal limit in several branded still and sparkling bottled waters.

"The implicated batches are being recalled from consumers.

"Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches."

The following list of affected bottles has been listed on the site;

- Aldi/Comeragh (Still and Sparkling)

- Applegreen (Still)

- Broderick (Still)

- Dunnes Stores (Still and Sparkling and Flavoured)

- Itica (Still)

- Lidl (Still)

- Londis (Still)

- Mace (Still)

- Macari (Still)

- Plane (Still)

- San Marino (Still)

- Spar (Still)

Consumers have been advised not to drink the water and to seek medical advice if they feel unwell.

The FSAI added: "Consumers are advised not to drink the implicated batches of water.

"If you have consumed any of the affected batches and feel unwell, please contact your GP."

You can find out more information, including batch code numbers, on the Food Safety Authority website.

The recall follows a similar one last week, where bottles from Spar and Londis were affected.
