Bottle-wielding woman seen smashing car windows in 'random and unprovoked incident'

Two cars in a Leigh road have been damaged by a bottle-wielding woman in a seemingly random and unprovoked incident.

CCTV footage taken from a house in Congresbury Road, Westleigh, shows a woman wearing a cap and an Adidas hoodie approaching a red car with a bottle in her hand before smashing the front windscreen and side window.

The same woman then approached the car in front and tried to damage that with the now broken bottle.

After the incident, she knocked on the door of the person who owned the first car but they were out.

The homeowner and owner of the first car, who does not wish to be identified, said: "Me and my husband were out that morning. We came back but didn't notice the damage. Then we went to pick our son up from nursery, that's when we noticed.

Police are yet to make any arrests in relation to the incident (UGC)

"We watched the CCTV we saw her coming with a bottle. When she smashed the windows she walked away but she then came back and knocked on the door

"I did not expect it. Why someone would do such a thing and then knock on the door, it doesn't make sense."

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that no arrests have yet been made.

A spokesman said: "At around 4.30pm on Wednesday June 9, police were called to a report of criminal damage in Leigh.

"A woman damaged two vehicles at an address on Congresbury Road before she fled the scene on foot towards a dead end.

"No arrests have been made."
