Imagine waking up in an Italian villa, wandering through a bustling piazza before ending the day at a candlelit dinner overlooking the sea. While few can book such a getaway on a whim, Bottega Veneta's latest fragrance collection, Alta, offers perhaps the next closest thing.
Alta arrives as an olfactory journey through Italy, unfolding through 10 new Eau de Parfums that celebrate the country's landscapes, rituals and sensory pleasures.
The name Alta, meaning high or elevated in Italian, signals a new chapter for Bottega Veneta's fragrance universe.
Under the creative direction of Louise Trotter, the collection expands on the house's growing beauty ambitions while staying firmly rooted in the values that have defined the brand for decades: quiet luxury, artisanal craftsmanship and a deep appreciation for Italian culture.
At the heart of Alta lies an intriguing storytelling device known as the "Intrecciato duo".
Borrowing from the maison's signature woven leather technique, each fragrance intertwines one ingredient native to Italy with another sourced from elsewhere in the world. The result is a collection that feels simultaneously local and global -- Italian in spirit, yet open to influences beyond its borders.
Many of the compositions lean towards a bright, sun-drenched sensibility, making them particularly appealing for warmer months. Several are inspired by food and everyday pleasures, creating fragrances that feel comforting yet sophisticated.
One standout is Bare Morning, a radiant composition that evokes the feeling of a slow Italian summer morning. Fresh and luminous, it captures the effortless ease that luxury brands have increasingly sought to translate into scent.
Another highlight is Ricordami, whose inspiration comes from stracciatella -- the creamy Italian delicacy known for its delicate texture and comforting richness. Rather than translating dessert literally, the fragrance transforms the familiar culinary reference into something elegant and wearable.
Then there is Balliamo, which translates to "let's dance". Energetic and playful, it reflects the collection's broader intention of capturing experiences rather than simply ingredients. Across the range, fragrances are designed to evoke moments of movement, celebration and connection.
The remaining scents -- Always Now, Montebello, Slow Rise, Moment After, Night Sounds, Velvet Steps and Crepuscolo -- continue this exploration of Italian life through different moods and landscapes. Together, they create a fragrance wardrobe rather than a single signature scent, allowing wearers to choose a fragrance that suits a particular feeling or occasion.
The collection also builds upon themes introduced in Bottega Veneta's earlier fragrance line, which drew inspiration from Venice.
While the previous chapter focused on one city and its rich cultural history, Alta broadens the lens to encompass Italy as a whole, celebrating everything from gastronomy and craftsmanship to everyday rituals.
Naturally, the attention to detail extends beyond the juice itself.
The fragrances are housed in sculptural glass bottles embossed with Bottega Veneta's iconic Intrecciato pattern. The design immediately recalls the woven leather accessories that have become synonymous with the brand.
Completing the bottle are two additional house signatures -- a polished gold-finished ring and a wooden cap, bringing together metal, wood and glass in a tactile object that feels as luxurious as the fragrance inside.
Alta is available in three formats: a miniature set featuring all ten fragrances, a 50ml bottle and a 100ml bottle. The range is also accompanied by a new travel case designed for fragrance lovers who prefer to carry their scent throughout the day.
Available in an array of metallic and richly saturated shades, the Alta perfume travel case reflects the growing convergence of beauty and fashion, transforming a practical accessory into a statement piece where even a quick fragrance touch-up becomes part of the luxury ritual.
The collection is now ready to be purchased through Bottega Veneta's website, selected department stores and boutiques worldwide.
