Bothwell Scarecrow Festival fun day returns this weekend

The popular and fun Bothwell Scarecrow Festival returns this Sunday.

Although a much more scaled down event this year due to the pandemic, and to keep villagers and visitors safe, the festival is still full to the brim with a day-long fun day.

As well as an array of fab scarecrows on display throughout the village, people are being encouraged to take a walk around and spot as many as they can.

Then the real fun begins at 1.30pm taking place at St Bride's Church Hall with stalls, live music, food, a bar and activities for all to enjoy.

Stalls include a tombola, art, jewellery, the Men's Shed, sweets, face painting, candles and much more.

Organiser Joe Mulholland told Lanarkshire Live : "It is a scaled down one-day event this year to support Wooddean phase 2 cycle fundraiser and promises to be a fab afternoon.

"Please come along and support the village and all Bothwell has to offer."

Wooddean Phase 2 follows on after completion of Phase 1 - the new state-of-the-art playpark in Bothwell's Clyde Terrace earlier this year - and it is hoped that with further fundraising a new cycle path can be built as well as drainage to the north western part of the site.

The existing sports field will also be upgraded to be used as a multi-purpose surface to support both sports and non-sport events such as the Bothwell Scarecrow Festival in the future, and it hoped the path network will be completed and a natural Wetland Area established to the west of the park.
