Bothwell hit and run: police identify car which struck 13-year-old

Police have released the details of a car thought to be involved in a hit and run with a child in Bothwell.

Officers in Lanarkshire are issuing a further appeal for information.

We reported earlier this week how the 13-year-old was left with serious injuries after a 'small silver car' hit him and failed to stop at around 2.30pm on Monday, 5 April, near to the Co-op on Main Street.

The 13-year-old boy was struck by what is now believed to have been a grey coloured Vauxhall Corsa.

He was taken to Wishaw General Hospital by ambulance, where he remains in a stable condition.

Sergeant Andy Shearer of the Road Policing Unit Motherwell said: “We are keen to trace the driver of the vehicle involved in this incident as soon as possible.

“Enquires have established that the car involved was a five door grey Vauxhall Corsa, which would appear to have sustained damage to the front passenger headlamp.

“I am appealing to anyone who might have information, dashcam footage or knowledge of a damaged grey Vauxhall Corsa to get in touch as soon as possible.

“To the driver, I am also making a direct appeal, do the right thing and come forward.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1769 of 5 April, or alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given anonymously.
