Both lanes of busy Scots motorway flooded after weather warnings issued across country

Both lanes of a busy Scots motorway are being flooded after weather warnings have been issued across the country.

Drivers on the M9 are being urged to be careful at Junction 8 northbound, just after the M876 cutoff, according to Traffic Scotland.

15 flood alerts were issued across Scotland by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

Two amber weather warnings for thunderstorms were also put in place by the Met Office until 11.59pm on Tuesday July 27.

Around 40mm of rain could potentially fall within an hour in some areas of Scotland and 80mm in general throughout the day.

A yellow weather warning will then be in place for the majority of the country from midnight on Wednesday July 28 until 6am on Thursday July 29.

Disruption to transport services is expected with ScotRail enforcing speed restrictions for trains to deal with the bad weather.

The Scottish Government’s Resilience Room also met to ensure appropriate measures were in place to deal with the conditions.
