Boston the bulldog hasn't had a single appointment after being found on the streets

Three-year-old Boston was found as a stray in April, and despite his handsome face, hasn’t had a single appointment from potential adopters. Manchester Dogs Home are now appealing for dog lovers who could give this beautiful boy a home.

The homeless hound was initially ‘nervous’ of the kennels and ‘wary’ around staff, but after getting to know his handler, Boston blossomed.

A spokesperson for the rescue said: “Boston’s confidence began to grow and he was excited to see his handler each morning with his tail wagging and becoming giddy, jumping up for attention.”

The white and tan pooch loves his daily walks and has met many of the other dogs at the centre. “He has interacted well with both males and females,” Manchester Dogs Home said, “choosing to greet them with a wagging tail and plenty of play bowing.”

While he has enjoyed some interaction with other dogs, Boston does like his own space, so he is looking for a home where he will be the only dog in the household. Ideally, his new owners would have experience of large breeds, and any children in the home would need to be over 16.

The centre added: “Although Boston has built a good relationship with his handler, he is wary around new people and can be vocal. For this reason, Boston will require successful applicants to commit to several consecutive visits in order to build a trusting relationship.

“Due to his size and weight, Boston is a strong boy which is something potential adopters need to be mindful of.”

Manchester and District Home for Lost Dogs was founded in 1893 by a group of Manchester businessmen who were concerned about the large number of stray dogs roaming the city. Today, a dedicated team continues to provide care for unwanted dogs, promising to never put a healthy dog down.

If you think you could offer Boston a home where he can grow in confidence and bloom, please get in touch with the Manchester Dogs Home.
