Boston Tea Party in Clifton Village has closed

Boston Tea Party has closed one of its Bristol cafés as it has "outgrown the space".

The popular chain, which started out in Bristol before expanding across the UK, has announced the closure of its Clifton Village site.

The Princess Victoria Street café, which the group operated for a decade, was the smallest of its 23 venues.

Boston Tea Party brand director Anita Atkins said the chain has its "sights set on something new".

"Clifton Village has been a wonderful little café for us over the last 10 years," she said.

"When we opened it in 2010, we had the idea of a smaller, coffee-led café but over the years our business has evolved into being much more about brunch and people wanting to eat in.

"We have simply outgrown the space.

"We’re still going full steam ahead at all our other cafés, including the five we have in Bristol and we have our sights set on something new, so watch this space."

The site will now be taken on by "another brilliant Bristol business," added the group in a statement shared on Facebook.

It is not yet known which business has taken on the lease of the building.

The nearest Boston Tea Party cafés to Clifton Village are located at Whiteladies Road and Park Street.

Boston Tea Party operates 22 cafés across the South West, Midlands and South Coast, serving ethically sourced food and drink.

With its headquarters located at its first café in Park Street, which opened in 1995, it was the first chain to ban single use coffee cups completely in 2018.
