Boston Scott could find a role with Eagles as Darren Sproles replacement

When you’re a running back on a loaded roster, having a dynamic ability to make things happen on special teams can definitely give any player a leg up on the competition. Most players don’t want the burden of being compared to a legend, but for Boston Scott, any resemblance to Darren Sproles could be the difference between running out of the tunnel for Week 1 or getting reps as a practice squad player.

With Corey Clement, Miles Sanders, and Josh Adams all missing from OTAs with various injuries, Scott, a former Saints practice squad player, has been able to get a constant share of the workload. The biggest thing about any opportunity is the ability to take advantage of it, and according to various reports so far, Scott has been fairly impressive over the past two weeks, filling the void of the multi-purpose threat that is Sproles. So much so that he’s caught the attention of head coach Doug Pederson.

With the Eagles trading for Jordan Howard and selecting Penn State’s Miles Sanders in the second round of the draft, Scott’s only shot at making the roster could be as a special teams ace. So far, the Sproles-like back has taken full advantage of his opportunities.
