Boston’s rumored new alternate jerseys making waves for all the wrong reasons

The Boston Celtics may be making strides in their on-court chemistry, but if the new alternate uniforms recently leaked via center Enes Kanter’s Instagram are the real deal, the team’s design department still has a lot of work to do.

Since deleted by Boston’s big man, the mysterious uniforms have caused something of a stir on social media as fans weighed in on their appearance.

The color — a bluish-green with gold — is like nothing the team has ever donned in competition. However, the choice could be a gesture to the team’s Irish-American fan base. The Irish flag was actually a blue banner with a harp in the center from 1541 to 1800. But the hue and absence of a harp lend little credence to the mysterious uniform design.

No word from the team yet as to the veracity of the poorly-received alternates but considering the initial reactions from fans it’s quite possible we never see of these monstrosities in official circles.
