The Boston Red Sox return to the comforts of Fenway Park after a long and arduous road trip in hopes that the 2018 World Series ring ceremony will lift their spirits and their play. Fortunately, the 3-8 Sox will face fellow AL East straggler in the 3-8 Toronto Blue Jays in a perfect opportunity to get the 2019 season on the right track.

Chalk this up to a World Series hangover. After a prolific end to a fantastic 2018, it was always going to be hard to procure the same magic that earned the Red Sox the rings they’ll receive today.
The Sox started their season with a tough 11-game road trip – not exactly the way any team wants to draw up an opening slate. While they’ve avoided a sweep in each series, that’s nothing to write home about and certainly doesn’t match Boston’s expectations. On the nights when the bats were silent, the pitching did well. On the nights where the bats woke up, their arms failed them.
Sox fans and players alike are looking for today to be a fresh start – a reminder of last year’s success and incredible ride. After a beautiful spring weekend, Bostonians were hopeful that good weather would bring new energy to the town, but a cold and rainy home opener could spoil that notion.
The ring ceremony will begin around 1:00 PM ET and the first pitch will be thrown out at 2:05 PM.
