Boston Police Clash With Pro-Palestinian Protesters At Emerson College

Protests continue at a protest encampment in support of Palestinians at University of California, Berkeley

Reports indicate that Boston Police clashed with pro-Palestinian protesters on the Emerson College campus overnight, resulting in several arrests. A local media reporter shared a video of the incident, showing arrested protesters chanting 'we keep us safe!' from inside a police wagon while onlookers joined in.

The exact number of arrests remains unclear as calls to Boston Police and city officials have not been returned. Social media posts from Justice in Palestine suggest that over 100 individuals were taken into custody.

Video footage captured officers in riot gear approaching protesters during the overnight confrontation. Subsequent videos show that the scene has since been cleared.

Emerson College President Jay Bernhardt and other school officials addressed the situation in a letter to students, stating that the encampment set up by protesters was in violation of city law. The letter emphasized the college's support for the community's right to protest but stressed the importance of doing so in compliance with local and state regulations.

The university expressed concerns about the protesters potentially facing legal consequences beyond the college's control if they continue to disregard city and state laws. Ensuring the safety and well-being of the community was highlighted as the top priority.
