Dec. 02--A video of a man lying on the sidewalk bleeding following an alleged run-in with Philadelphia center Jahlil Okafor was posted online by TMZ on Wednesday, prompting Boston police to urge "anyone else to come forward if they were assaulted."
Hours after the video was posted, the 76ers announced Okafor had been suspended for two games.
"Jahlil is a very important part of our organization and our future," the team said in a statement. "While we are disappointed with his recent actions, we have faith in him as a valued member of the Sixers."
TMZ had posted another video of Okafor fighting outside a Boston nightclub in which the 76ers rookie can be seen shoving a man. The events in Wednesday's video appear to take place right after that incident.
It shows Okafor yelling angrily, then the man on the sidewalk. The video does not show how the man got there or why he is bleeding from his face, but someone off camera repeatedly states Okafor's name.
On Friday, a man said in a police report that he needed stitches above his eye after he was punched and knocked to the ground. No charges have been filed.
The third overall pick in this year's NBA draft, Okafor reportedly had a gun pointed at his head following an argument in a Philadelphia club back in October and was also stopped by police during the same month for allegedly driving 108 mph on a bridge where anything over 40 mph is considered reckless driving, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
On Tuesday a representative of Okafor denied a report that the 19-year-old player had been caught trying to use a fake ID to buy alcohol.
Okafor apparently addressed some of the recent incidents on Twitter last weekend.
