Boston College WR Jeff Smith to visit Vikings Tuesday

It’s no secret that the Vikings could use some help behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs at the wide receiver position.

They could address that in the draft. One option could be Boston College Jeff Smith who, per Greg Auman of The Athletic, will be visiting the Vikings on Tuesday.

Who is Jeff Smith, you ask?

Smith finished with 20 catches for 387 yards and six touchdowns last season while running 19 times for 142 yards and a touchdown. He started his college career as a quarterback.

Smith ranks as CBS Sports’ 58th receiver, so chances are, he’d be a late-round pick.

The converted quarterback is 6-0, 191 pounds and ran a 4.34 in the 40-yard dash at Boston College’s pro day.

While Smith isn’t a big receiver, he’s shifty and there’s a reason to get excited about him in the slot with Diggs and Thielen on the outside.

Then again, we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. He’s a late-round pick and there’s no reason to think he’d contribute in the NFL immediately considering he didn’t do so in college. But he has all the tools to, it appears.
