Why Richmond Will Win
The Spider running game was fantastic in the opening week win over Jacksonville, with seven different players – led by QB Joe Mancuso – combining or 320 yards with big dash after big dash.
The defense was in midseason form, too, stuffing everything Jacksonville tried to do on the ground and coming up with stop after stop on the way to a 38-6 lead. The Spiders let up late and gave up a few garbage-time drives, but they should be able to move on the ground a bit against a BC defense that should be on letdown alert after opening up with an ACC win over Virginia Tech.
As good as the Eagle were in the win, they couldn’t get the running game working against the Hokies. But …
Why Boston College Will Win
The BC defense was a brick wall against the Virginia Tech ground game, and it should be able to swarm all over Mancuso.
The Eagles got picked apart by Ryan Willis and the Hokies passing attack, but they managed to come up with several key stops, three picks, and allowed just 98 yards on the ground and no big dashes.
Offensively, there isn’t much of a Richmond pass rush to worry about, and …

What’s Going To Happen
This week, the BC running game works. There’s no need to overwork AJ Dillon, and there’s absolutely no point in opening up QB Anthony Brown for any big shots, but the ground game needs to get stronger after averaging just 3.3 yards per carry against Virginia Tech.
