Sabri Lamouchi wants to stay at Nottingham Forest 'for a long time'

Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi insists his contract situation is not important, as he focuses on a promotion push.

But the Frenchman says he is keen to stay at the club “for a long time”.

Lamouchi signed a one-year contract when he made the move to the City Ground last June.

Since then the team have made great strides, with the Reds currently sat fifth in the Championship table ahead of the final 13 games.

Such is the job he has done, there have been calls from fans to get him tied to a new deal.

But Lamouchi himself insists that is not his priority, as he tries to guide the club back to the Premier League for the first time in two decades.

“It is not my decision,” the 48-year-old said.

“I am happy here.

“From the beginning I was so surprised by the warm welcome from the fans. And every day, every week, every month, I am feeling at home here.

“My desire is to stay here for a long time. I can’t say more than that.

“I have this responsibility, but for me to focus on the right things is very important.

“If I think only about my contract, it is a big mistake.

“My contract is not so important. Myself, I am not so important.

“But what we want to realise, all together, is so important because we will keep that for the rest of our lives.

“My contract is only for me. But to realise this (promotion) all together, now, it is totally different - especially here, at this club, an amazing club with fantastic fans.

“They have been waiting for a long, long time.

“Me, club, players, fans, we need to stay all together and focus on the 13 games - and the next one is QPR.

“We just want to focus on the next three points, to stay in the race and increase the belief.”
