Boss rejects 'humiliate' striker claim amid Nottingham Forest transfer link

NAC Breda boss Maurice Steijn insists there is no issue with striker Sydney van Hooijdonk amid transfer links with Nottingham Forest.

Van Hooijdonk is said to have attracted the interest of the Reds, as well as Championship rivals Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday.

And he has hinted a January move could be on the cards.

He has been in red-hot form for NAC Breda in the Dutch Eerste Divisie so far this season, with eight goals.

But he has started his team’s last two games on the bench, and was only brought on in the 89th minute of their most recent match at the weekend.

“Afterwards you can discuss whether it is smart to bring it in in the 89th minute. It causes a lot of commotion," said Steijn.

"What I find most annoying are the innuendo.

"I said to Sydney, 'Whatever everyone thinks, that switch was not to humiliate you'. It was nothing to do for me, it was a bit unfortunate.

"I talked about it with Sydney this week. Shake hands and we will continue."
