Boss Ian Murray sends Airdrieonians players a message after going top of League One

Delighted urged his players to keep their feet on the ground after moving top of League One.

The Diamonds 2-0 win over Stranraer moved them to the top of the pile following goals from Calum Gallagher and Dale Carrick.

However, Murray says there is a long way to go.

He told the “It’s a good result at a difficult place to go. We controlled the game and deserved the three points.

“It’s the first time in 15 years this club has been top of a league unbelievably.

“It’s a morale boost but that’s all it is. There will be a lot more ups and downs this season.”

Murray was now looking forward to Monklands Derby action against Albion Rovers.

He continued: “We know it’s going to be a blood and thunder cup tie on a smaller pitch in front of a hostile crowd.

“We know we are the favourites but that tag comes for a reason. We are in good form, but from games against Elgin and Queen’s Park in the cup competitions this season we know it won’t be easy.”
