Bosnia soccer association moves Sarajevo derby over Erdogan's rally

SARAJEVO (Reuters) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's football association (NFSBiH) said on Tuesday it has moved the Premier League derby between Sarajevo's two clubs to Saturday from Sunday because of an election rally due to be held by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on May 20.

Previous matches between rivals Sarajevo and Zeljeznicar have sometimes ended in civil unrest and the police asked the association to move the game, NFSBiH said on its website.

The Turkish embassy in Bosnia has said that Erdogan will speak ahead of elections on June 24 to political supporters in Sarajevo, as part of his working visit to Bosnia.

Some Western countries have banned Turkish politicians from campaigning on their soil. Erdogan has said his party would hold the first election rally in a European country and then later announced it would be in Sarajevo.
