Bosnia and Herzegovina facing defensive crisis ahead of playoff

Bosnia and Herzegovina are facing a defensive crisis ahead of Thursday's Euro playoff against Northern Ireland.

It has been reported that Ervin Zukanović is the latest player to be rated doubtful for the semi-final tie in Sarajevo.

The home side are already without Toni Sunjic due to travel restrictions from China where he plays for Super League club Henan Jianye.

Also missing are defenders Zoran Kvrzic, Adnan Kovacevic, Eldar Civic and Ermin Bicakcic.

That could see Dusan Bajevic field a vastly inexperienced back line against Northern Ireland.

Bosnian freelance journalist Sasa Iburlj tweeted on Wednesday: "Zukanović being unavailable would mean one of the debutants switching from Sweden last month (Ahmedhodžić or Hadžikadunić) will start as a CB.

"Saničanin (2 caps so far) will probably be another, and with Cipetić (RB, 1 cap) and Kolašinac this will be completely new back four."
