Bosnia and Herzegovina boss Dusan Bajevic vows to punish Northern Ireland mistakes

Bosnia and Herzegovina boss Dusan Bajevic has vowed to punish any mistakes Northern Ireland make in their Euro playoff semi-final.

Played to a finish over a single leg in Sarajevo, the winners on Thursday will progress to a winner-takes-all showdown with either Slovakia or the Republic of Ireland next month.

It is a huge clash for both sides as they look to edge closer to next summer's Euro finals.

History favours Bosnia, who inflicted back-to-back defeats on Northern Ireland during the last Nations League campaign.

Bajevic is refusing to read too much into those wins, but believes his side will prove too much for Ian Baraclough's visitors in Thursday's renewal.

"The [Northern] Irish team typically plays in a similar fashion to the English team. They are quick, strong, good at heading, very fast. They can be very awkward opponents," Bajevic told Uefa.com.

"I believe we won't be making mistakes and that we will capitalise on the mistakes the Irish make. There is no second leg, and I believe that we will be ready for that and that we will win."

Bajevic added: "We have beaten [Northern Ireland] twice, but we gave them a lot of space in those matches.

"We had some bad moments and we could've paid for them. It would be a big mistake to think that we will win the next match and that everything will play out like in the last two encounters with Northern Ireland."
