Bosch turns their Kiox display into a key that locks and unlocks your e-bike

Bosch digital theft protection for eBikes

Bosch has expanded their Boschsmart system digital theft protection by introducing some new features that make improve usability for Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 equipped bikes.

The digital theft protection adds another layer of security when securing your bike. Working alongside your bike lock, the digital theft protection disables the motor through the eBike Flow app.

Bosch has now greatly simplified the locking and unlocking process by using the Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 display as a key. The system can now be locked and unlocked by simply removing and refitting the handlebar display, rather than needing to pull out your phone and unlock via the eBike Flow app.

Bosch already had an automatic unlock mode – which disabled the motor when the bike was switched off and unlocked as soon as the bike is within Bluetooth range of the smartphone. This feature can now be disabled, along with the other locking methods, if you would prefer to use the Kiox as the key or disable the bike manually through the app, or both.

The e-bike theft protection is now no longer tied to a single phone either, so shared e-bikes can now be controlled by multiple smartphones.

There are user display updates too, riders can now arrange the data and sequence of the display screens and set up to three tiles on one screen and a maximum of 13 individual screens.

The latest update can be downloaded via the eBike Flow app. The eBike Flow app is available via an e-biker’s preferred app store for free.
