Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Braut Haaland on why he hates facing Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland has explained why Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk is the defender he most hates coming up against.

The 19-year-old Norwegian is one of the hottest strikers in Europe right now, having already scored 40 goals in 32 games this season for RB Salzburg and Dortmund, who he joined in January for a reported fee of £20m.

He has cut a swathe through the Champions Leaguein his first season playing in the Europe's elite competition, scoring a hat-trick against Genk in his first game as well as coming off the bench to bag an equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield in the group stages as the Austrians fought back from the three goals down to level before Mo Salah grabbed a winner for Jurgen Klopp 's men.

He will be looking to add to his Champions League tally of 10 goals in 7 games so far this season on Wednesday when Dortmund travel to PSG for the second leg of their last 16 knock-out tie holding a 2-1 advantage from the first game in Germany three weeks ago.

Ahead of the tie, the striker - son of former Leeds and Nottingham Forest midfielder Alf Inge Haaland - has been speaking to France Football and answered a number of thought-provoking short questions.

In answer to a question asking what sort of defender he hates coming across, Haaland replied: "Van Dijk. He is so good. He is powerful, quick, he possesses all the qualities. He is an incredible player."

Haaland also answered questions about his future, intriguingly responding to a query over whether Dortmund was a mere stepping stone for him with: "I have just arrived. I am very happy here. I want to achieve many things.

"I am only concentrating on that. The stadium here gives me goosebumps, and I feel well-surrounded here."

As for where he saw himself in 10 years, Haaland replied: "I have no idea. Of course I have dreams. But I have just arrived at Dortmund.

"I am very happy to be here. I want to enjoy every second, to do great things and think about nothing else.

Van Dijk and Liverpool are next in action on Wednesday when they take on Atletico Madrid at Anfield in the second leg of their last 16 Champions League clash, needing to overturn a 1-0 first leg deficit to reach the quarter-finals for their third season running.
