Erling Haaland distances himself from hometown side Leeds United in bizarre fashion

Erling Braut Haaland has cast doubt over his Leeds United allegiances after distancing himself from links with the club.

The Norwegian wonder kid has burst on to the European scene, first in the Champions League with Red Bull Salzburg and then Borussia Dortmund who he joined in January.

The 19-year-old was, of course, born in Leeds and given the links from his father, Alfe-Inge Haaland, who turned out at Elland Road, it was hardly surprising when he admitted he had a soft spot for the club.

Back in 2017, Aftenposten  quoted Haaland as saying: “I want to be the best possible. The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds.

"In addition, the goal is to become a better player than my dad was. I hope to get more caps than he did.”

Whilst that was music to Leeds supporters' ears, that alliance with the club has no been put in to question, as latest report claim.

Speaking to France Football, Haaland has been asked if he’s still a Leeds United fan following his move to Germany, to which he replied: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

When reminded about his comments in 2017, Haaland appeared to refuse the question, which came as a surprise to those conducting the interview.

Haaland is in Champions League action for Dortmund on Wednesday night, where they will be hoping to reach the last eight of the competition by holding on to a 2-1 first-leg lead against Paris-Saint Germain, thanks to Haaland's winner in Dortmund.
