Borussia Dortmund's transfer decision that could be good news for Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia

Borussia Dortmund are already putting plans in place for life after Chelsea-linked striker Erling Haaland.

That is according to a report by The Independent, who claim the Bundesliga giants are ready to rival West Ham United in the race to sign Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic this summer.

Dortmund, who suffered a slender 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening, are poised to be inundated with offers and enquiries for Norwegian star Haaland this summer after a breathtaking campaign.

In 33 appearances in all competitions this season, the former Red Bull Salzburg ace has netted a staggering 33 goals, providing proof that he has the potential to make it to the very top of world football in years to come.

As recently as last week, Haaland's agent - Mino Raiola - has been speaking with various clubs to discover what their 'projects' are and how Haaland cold fit into them.

Haaland, who is only 20-years-old, has been linked with a variety of clubs across Europe in recent weeks and months, including Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But whoever is fortunate enough to win the race for Haaland this summer, should he seal an exit from the German heavyweights, they are going to have to loosen the purse strings and then some if they are to get a deal over the line. Dortmund value the Norway ace at well over £100million, meaning any club looking to sign him will have to potentially put any other business they wish to conclude this forthcoming summer to one side.

Although Dortmund are likely to be reluctant to let go of their star asset, they may have little choice when taking into account that his release clause, which has a much lower price than his current valuation, comes into effect in the summer of 2022.

Thus, Dortmund may have no choice but to let go of Haaland within the next few months to ensure they claim the maximum price possible for his services.

And according to the report published by The Independent, Dortmund are already shortlisting their options to act as Haaland's successor, with Stuttgart ace Kalajdzic currently under consideration.

The Serbian, who has netted 14 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions this season, is only 23-years-old, meaning he has his very best years ahead of him. With that in mind, he could be just the type of player Dortmund are in need of in their quest to find a suitable candidate to fill the void that could be vacated by Haaland this summer.

However, Dortmund may not have everything go their way this summer in the battle to sign Kalajdzic as both West Ham and RB Leipzig are also keen on his signature.
