Borussia Dortmund issue Jadon Sancho update amid Manchester United transfer interest

Borussia Dortmund's head of football has reiterated that Jadon Sancho will stay at the Bundesliga club this summer - but hinted at alternative plans should he depart.

The England starlet is top of Manchester United's shopping list this summer but a difference in valuation between the two clubs has meant a deal has not been done with just three weeks of the transfer window yet.

It has led to increasingly-confident sounding declarations coming from the Dortmund hierarchy that the 20-year-old will not leave.

Speaking to ARD, Kehl was the latest to claim Sancho will stay at Dortmund - although he did say the German club are watching the market in case a deal is reached.

Kehl said: "Jadon Sancho will play at Borussia Dortmund this season.

"Otherwise, of course, we are watching the market but we are very well positioned."

Kehl's comments echo what Dortmund manager Lucien Favre said earlier today.

Favre said he was delighted at the prospect of Sancho staying at the club, underlining the player's importance to his plans this season.

Yet Favre also argued that there were things the England attacker can improve upon.

Favre added: "We need him, no question. Everyone was happy that he stayed.

"We don't need to talk long about its qualities – they are enormous. He scores and sets up a lot of goals and can often make all the difference.

"But there are some details that Sancho needs to improve. That is quite normal for a 20-year-old."
