Borussia Dortmund issue fresh update on Erling Haaland amid Manchester United and Man City interest

Borussia Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc is adamant Erling Haaland will be at the club next season.

The Manchester Evening News reported last month that United view Haaland as the ideal long-term replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

Meanwhile, City have earmarked the forward as their No.1 target to replace Sergio Aguero, who will leave the Etihad at the end of the season after 10 years with the Blues.

Haaland has a reputed €75million release clause in his Dortmund contract, but that only becomes active next year, so the Bundesliga giants could be forced to sell their most valuable asset in the summer due to the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dortmund's sporting director Zorc has given a fresh update on Haaland's future, with rumours intensifying about where he will be playing his football next season.

Zorc said Haaland will stay at Dortmund regardless of whether or not they qualify for next season's Champions League.

Zorc told Sky: “We have made our position clear on the Haaland case. The decision will not be made without Borussia Dortmund. No matter where we end up, Erling will continue to play for us.”

As it stands, the Black and Yellow are in fifth place in the Bundesliga table, just below Eintracht Frankfurt - who occupy the final Champions League qualification position.

United are set to qualify for the prestigious European competition, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side currently sitting comfortably in second in the Premier League table.
