Borussia Dortmund issue Erling Haaland transfer update amid Liverpool speculation

Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc has thrown cold water on the suggestion that Erling Braut Haaland could leave the club next year.

Haaland has established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe over the last year, despite his young age, after enjoying a meteoric rise in the game.

The Norwegian started last season at Red Bull Salzburg where his sensational goal record - including a goal against Liverpool in the Champions League - soon got him noticed by some of Europe's biggest clubs.

It was Bundesliga giants Dortmund who won the race for his signature and he has continued his stunning form in Germany, scoring 33 times in just 31 appearances.

Unsurprisingly, Haaland is now being linked with another big money transfer to an even higher level, with Liverpool one of the sides touted among the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City.

However, Zorc has move to dispel the notion that the star striker will be leaving Signal Iduna Park any time soon.

"We plan for the long term with Erling. [Rumours] do not have to be dealt with at all," the director told a press conference ahead of the Bundesliga clash against Koln on Saturday. "I will see him with us for a long time."

Zorc also believes there's even more to come from the 20-year-old: "You don't have to ground him at all. He exudes such a positive dynamic. Why should we slow it down now? He is leading the way, that is very good for us. I do not believe in artificially slowing positive developments."

Liverpool have been linked with Haaland, who was recently crowned the winner of the 2020 Golden Boy award, as they look to potentially add some youth to their aging front three.

Salzburg sporting director Cristoph Freund recently said he  expected Haaland to move to Liverpool one day, simply saying: "He will land there."
